Gifts, Talents, and Opportunities

GIFT PACKAGE

Scripture: Just as each one of you has received a special gift [a spiritual talent, an ability graciously given by God], employ it in serving one another as [is appropriate for] good stewards of God’s multi-faceted grace [faithfully using the diverse, varied gifts and abilities granted to Christians by God’s unmerited favor]. (1st Peter 4:10 Amp. Bible)

Open to Serve

Previously, I participated in a “Positivity Challenge” that I was nominated for. The rules were each participant had to select 3 or more random individuals in a day and greet them with kindness and encouragement. After reading the rules, I questioned myself. Did I have the ability to encourage 3 people?” and “If so, how would I proceed in doing so?”

After pondering the matter, I accepted the Challenge. I thought about the gifts and abilities God gave me through His Holy Spirit. However, I needed to figure out the best method to approach a stranger in a friendly way. My purpose was to share the love of God and deposit something meaningful into someone’s life. I knew that it probably wouldn’t be easy, but I had to make the decision to step out of the box that I was holding myself hostage.

“God’s ways are higher than our ways, and His thoughts are higher than our thoughts” (Isa. 55:8-9).

Seeking Answers

I sought God with diligence for the answers to my questions. He answered by revealing my purpose in serving in His Kingdom. My God-ordained ministry gift is teaching, and with the gift of teaching comes the gift of encouragement. First, it has a way of strengthening an individual to help them overcome obstacles that may hinder them. Secondly, encouragement lifts a person’s countenance and gives them the willpower to carry on. While encouraging others, we walk away feeling encouraged. It’s a two-fold blessing!

Immediately I knew in my spirit that the “Positivity Challenge” was something that I had to do. I realized that I had to let go of my insecurities and unlock the limitations that I had placed upon myself. Then I decided to embrace the new opportunity that was set before me.

Social Media’s Role

One thing I really enjoy is interacting with like-minded people on social media. It is a wonderful platform for making connections and getting insight from people who reside in various countries. There’s so much to learn about the world, especially through the eyes of someone of a different culture.

I decided to use the very same pattern to meet and greet people during the Challenge. I delightfully engage a person with a smile and a friendly “Hello, how are you?” Depending on their response, if necessary, I will take time to listen and show them just how much I care. Sometimes, all a person needs is someone to listen to them. To show interest that says “I care about you.” This is love in action. Love is an amazing gift! In fact, love is the greatest gift of all the other spiritual gifts.

“But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, meekness, kindness, gentleness, faithfulness, patience, and self-control.” (Galatians 3:22-23).

Glory to God!

I was surprised that three ladies from the Challenge commented on how much they enjoyed reading my daily social media posts and were encouraged after reading them. One of the ladies informed me that she was gaining a greater understanding of the Scriptures. I was encouraged by her testimony, and I thanked her! This is one blessing that was reciprocated! Glory to God!

It’s exciting to see someone benefit from the love you share. When a person feels elevated from an average day to an exceptional day, victory is won!

“BEST OF ALL I WON THE POSITIVITY CHALLENGE!”

With gladness of heart, I will continue to serve God daily and be a blessing to others on my path. I encourage you not to ever stop trusting in God and serve Him with excellence. Step out in faith and expect new opportunities to arise. Keep God first in all you do, and everything else will be aligned. Remember, if you’re faithful in the small things, God will bless you and increase your territory. Use your gifts and talents wisely and bless others abundantly.

  1. I too am an encourager and always appreciate being encouraged myself. It definitely gives me life to know that I am ultimately walking in my purpose. I love all of the goals you’ve achieved this year alone — Congrats.

I must admit that I had a week of, “When God?” So, I appreciate being reminded that God already knows the plans for me and I just need to keep living out the Fruits of the Spirit knowing God is faithful.

    Have an awesome weekend.
