Making It to the Other Side

After class, Jesus and His disciples left the multitude, boarded a ship and headed for the other side. While in route, a great storm arose and the waves beat the ship. Where exactly was Jesus? He was asleep on a pillow in the hinder part of the ship. The disciples woke Him up exclaiming, “Master, don’t you care if we drown?”

Jesus got up, commanded the wind, “STOP,” and He spoke to the sea, “PEACE BE STILL.”  The wind ceased and there was a great calm. He turned to His disciples and asked them, “Why are you afraid? Where is your faith?”

Just as Jesus’ disciples were fearful during the hurricane, so are we when experiencing unfavorable and unexpected conditions. Oftentimes, we’re unsure if Jesus is even with us during these difficult moments in our lives. Fear has a way of creeping in and we begin to doubt whether or not we’re able to survive the vicissitudes of life.

It’s amazing how much faith we place in our local news meteorologist. We immediately believe their daily weather predictions. It doesn’t matter if the predictions are favorable or unfavorable, we believe them.

However, conditions are subject to change without any prior notice. Meteorologists cannot control  the weather conditions, their job is to predict what the radar detects, and sometimes the predictions are incorrect.

“But, not Jesus. He knew what was ahead, so he prepared for the storm by falling asleep on a pillow”; (Mark 4:38 KJV).

Whatever the force of the storm is that you’re facing, remember that Jesus is the Master over every storm. The storms in our lives are no match for our God. When He speaks, He commands and they obey.

When the storms of life blow your way, place your faith in Jesus, and ride out the storm with Him. He won’t let you drown. Now, lets go to the other side…

“and don’t forget to bring your pillow,  just in case there’s a storm ahead.”

Blessings to you!
