The Lord said to Moses,
“Tell Aaron and his sons, ‘This is how you are to bless the Israelites, Say to them:
” ‘ ” The Lord bless you and keep you;
the Lord make His face shine upon you and be gracious to you;
the LORD turn His face toward you and give you peace.” ‘
So they will put my name on the Israelites, and I will bless them.”
(Numbers 6:22-27 NIV)
The LORD gave this prayer to Moses with the instructions to tell his brother Aaron and his sons to bless the Israelites (God’s chosen people).
Today, there many Pastors, Ministers, and Clergyman who close their worship service with this prayer before dismissing the congregation.
According to 1 Peter 2:9, “We are a chosen people, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, God’s special possession, that you may declare the praises of Him who called you out of darkness into His wonderful light.”
This prayer is relevant and appropriate for God’s people today, just as it was for the Old Testament Priests who prayed over God’s chosen people then.
Today, I prayer this pray for you:
“May the Lord bless you and keep you;
the Lord make His face shine upon you and be gracious to you;
the Lord turn His face toward you and give you peace.”
In the name of Jesus. Amen.
