In HONOR of All MOTHERS on this extraordinary “MOTHER’S DAY” week, I present “The Queen of Sheba.”
From the Female Promise Seekers Series: “Woman Thou Art Chosen”
THE QUEEN OF SHEBA
The Queen of Sheba was a woman of great wealth, beauty, and power. Her kingdom was in Ethiopia and was noted for its great wealth. She traveled 12,000 miles from Ethiopia by camel to meet the wisest earthly king. She was accompanied by a large caravan and a grandiose of gifts befitting of a King.
Her legendary voyage led her to Jerusalem to verify the validity of what she heard regarding King Solomon’s wisdom and amassed wealth.
She spoke with King Solomon, exchanging her curiosity for answers to help her understand his unlimited knowledge. After seeing the palace, she was awed by the house he had built.
With gladness of heart, the Queen said, “The report which I heard in my own land about your wisdom is true. He was filled with wisdom beyond human understanding because he prayed and asked God for wisdom to lead His people” (1 King 3:3).
In both synopsis, *Matthew and Luke, Jesus refers to her, reaffirming her historical personage, to illustrate that, despite being originally pagan in belief and Gentile in race, the Queen recognized the truth and reality of God.
Like the Queen of Sheba, when we seek the promises of God, distance should not stop us. Time cannot hinder or restrict us because God does not operate by earthly laws. Because He’s Omnipresent, He overrides time and occupies all space. Therefore, nothing can stop us from getting to God and seeking the promises He graciously provided for his children.
If we seek Him wholeheartedly, we will find Him. And if anyone lacks wisdom, they should ask God, who freely gives to those who ask; (1 Tim. 1:7). He has manifold wisdoms and longs to share His secrets with those who love Him. He invites us to come and reason with Him. He is willing to show us great and mighty things we are unaware of. Every promise belongs to us because we are heirs, the seeds of Abraham.
Prayer
My prayer for you is that out of his glorious riches may He strengthen you with power through His Spirit in your inner man so that Christ may richly dwell in your heart through faith. Let us come boldly to the throne of our merciful God. This is where we find grace to help us in our time of need.
Father God, You show us the path of life; In Your presence is fullness of joy. In your right hand, there are pleasures forevermore. In Jesus’ name, amen.
Have a Happy Mother’s Day!
