Scripture: He himself bore our sins in his body on the tree, so that we might die to sins and live for righteousness; by his wounds you have been healed; (1st Peter 2:24 NIV).

The phrase the “Blood of Christ” is the expression of the sacrificial death and full atoning work of Jesus on our behalf. Christ literally bled on the cross and died for sinners. The blood of Christ has the power to atone for an infinite number of sins committed by a host of individuals throughout ages.

The Blood of Christ, as the means of atonement for sin, has its origin in the Mosaic Law. It required animal sacrifices as a  means of forgiveness for the sins of God’s people. The problem with animal sacrifices was it provided a temporary method of forgiveness for sins. It was repeated yearly as a reminder to the people of their sins. It was never meant to be a permanent method of forgiveness. Jesus’ finished work on the cross provides forgiveness for all people, past and future generations, for those who receive Him as their Savior.

The New Testament offers a better Covenant than the Old Testament. Not only does the blood of Christ redeem believers from sin and eternal punishment, but His blood purifies our conscience; (Heb.9:14). God has forgiven our sins, and He does not remember them. Therefore, there isn’t a constant reminder of our past sins. If God has forgiven us and forgotten our sins, who are we that we should remember them? Because the blood has redeemed us, we are new creations in Christ; (2 Cor. 5:17), and by His blood, we are free from the bondage of sin.

The blood of Jesus also has healing virtues. The woman with the issue of blood bled for 12 years without any sign of change from her practicing physicians. But the moment she touched the hem of Jesus’ garment virtue escaped from Him, and immediately her bleeding ceased. In an instant, Jesus did what no other physician could do. He Healed this woman! Her Bleeding Stopped! She was made whole; (Mark 5:24-25; Luke 8:42-28).

The word healed as translated from both Hebrew and Greek can mean either spiritual or physical healing. Although Mark chapter 5 and Luke chapter 8 both speak of physical healing, while the context of Isaiah 53 and 1st Peter chapter 2 gives us a precise reference to spiritual healing. “He himself bore our sins in his body on the tree, so that we might die to sins and live for righteousness, by His wounds we have been healed.”; (1 Pet. 2:24). This verse is referring to sin and righteousness, not sickness and disease. Therefore, being healed in both versus is speaking of being forgiven and saved.

The blood of Christ is the basis of the New Covenant. As Kingdom citizens, we are new creations through the blood of Christ; (2nd Cor. 5:17). All of our debts are paid in full, and we’re able to serve the living God unhindered; (Heb. 9:14). The blood of Christ redeemed us from sin and eternal punishment and purifies our conscience from useless acts. We are no longer under satans rule. Whom the Son sets free is free indeed! It’s a blessing to worship our God and give Him the glory for the marvelous things that He has done.

The Miraculous Blood of Jesus has the power to:
1. Redeem; (Heb. 9:12,22; Col. 1:14).
2. Deliver; (Rom. 5:1; Gal. 5:1-4).
3. Forgive; (Matt. 26:28; John 1:29; Eph. 2:8).
4. Cleanse; (Rom. 3:22; 2 Cor. 5:21; 1 John 1:7; Heb. 10; Rev. 1:5).
5. Heal; (Isa. 53:5; Mark 5:24-34; Luke 8:42-48; 1 Pet. 2:24).
6. Justify; (Gal. 2:16; 3:11).
7. Born Anew; (2 Cor. 5:17; 1 Pet. 1:23).
8. Restore. (Ps. 51:12; Joel 2:25-26).
9. Victory; (Rev. 12:11).
10. Eternal life; (Rom. 6:23)
11. Save; (1 John 2:2; Matt. 26:28).
12. Protection; (Ex, 12:13, 23).

There is life in the Blood; (Lev. 17:11).

Oh, the Blood, the Blood, the Precious Blood of Jesus. It never loses its power.
