Before going to the cross, Jesus uttered this prayer to God (our Father) on behalf of all believers. He knew that we would need a helper to survive the wrath that was forthcoming upon the world due to centuries of rebellion and sin. But, he did not leave us comfortless. So, He sent the Holy Spirit to comfort all believers.
Here is His prayer, “I ask not only for these disciples but also for all those who will one day believe in me through their message. I pray for them all to be joined together as one even as you and I, Father, are joined together as one. I pray for them to become one with us so that the world will recognize that you sent me. For the very glory you have given to me, I have given to them so that they will be joined together as one and experience the same unity that we enjoy. You live fully in me, and now I live fully in them so that the world will be convinced that you have sent me, for they will see that you loved each one of them with the same passionate love that you have for me.”
“Father, I ask that you allow everyone that you have given to me to be with me where I am. Then they will see my full glory, the very splendor you have placed up me because you have loved me even before the beginning of time.”
“I have revealed to them who you are, and I will continue to make you even more real to them, so that they may experience the same endless love that you have for me, for your love will now live in them, even as I live in them”; (John 17:20-24, 26 TPT).
JESUS PRAYED FOR THE COMFORTER TO COME
I will ask the Father, and He will give you another Helper, that He may be with you forever; that is the Spirit of truth, whom the world cannot receive, because it does not see Him or know Him, but you know Him because He abides with you and will be in you.
All this I have spoken while still with you. But the Advocate, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in my name, will teach you all things and will remind you of everything I have said to you. Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid; (John14:16-17, 26-27 NASB).
CALLING ALL BELIEVERS
After Jesus was resurrected from the grave, He spoke to his disciples, saying, “All authority (all power of rule) in heaven and on earth has been given to Me. Go then and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them into the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit. Teaching them to observe everything that I have commanded you and behold I am with you all the days (Perpetually, uniformly, and on every occasion) to the [very] close and consummation of the age, Amen; (Matt. 28:18-20 NASB).
Sending the disciples out to carry on His mission of salvation into all parts of the world, Jesus said, “Behold I send you forth as sheep in the midst of wolves; be ye therefore wise as serpents, and harmless as doves. Beware of men; for they will deliver you up to the councils, and they will scourge you in their synagogues; and ye shall be brought before governors and kings for my sake, for a testimony against them and the Gentiles. But when they deliver you up, take no thought how or what ye shall speak; for it shall be given you in that same hour what ye shall speak. For it is not you that speak, but the Spirit of your Father which speaks in you; (Matt. 10:16-20).
The Apostle Peter wrote, “Beloved, do not be surprised at the fiery ordeal among you, which comes upon you for your testing, as though some strange thing were happening to you; but to the degree that you share the sufferings of Christ, keep on rejoicing, so that also at the revelation of His glory you may rejoice with exaltation; (1st Peter 4:12 NASB).
NON-CARNAL WEAPONS
For our weapons of warfare are not carnal, but mighty through God to the pulling down of strongholds; casting down imaginations, and every high thing that exalts itself against the knowledge of God and bringing into captivity every thought to the obedience of Christ and having a readiness to revenge all disobedience, when your obedience is fulfilled; (1st Cor. 10:4-6).
LET’S PUT IT ON!
Put on the whole armor [the armor of a heavy-armed soldier which God supplies], that you may be able successfully to stand up against [all] the strategies and the deceits of the devil. For we are not wrestling with flesh and blood [contending] only with physical opponents], but against the despotisms, against the powers, against [the master spirits who are] the world rulers of this present darkness, against the spiritual forces of wickedness in the heavenly (supernatural) sphere; (Eph. 6:11-12 Amp.).
Christians are in a war, and the opposing forces that come against us, attack us physically by touching us through our circumstances. The enemy will attack our flesh and our family, and he uses materialistic objects essential for our survival to try to strategically defeat us mentally. Therefore, we must be prepared and dressed for the battle. No soldier goes into battle without the proper equipment.
We must put on the full armor of God so that when the day of evil comes, we may be able to stand our ground, and after having done everything to stand, stand firm dressed in your spiritual armor.
- The Belt of Truth around your waist.
- The Breastplate of Righteousness.
- The Shoes of the Gospel of Peace.
- The Shield of Faith.
- The Helmet of Salvation.
- The Sword of the Spirit.
There’s a 7th piece of armor that activates all the others! “Prayer” is the seventh weapon, and it’s powerful! It pushes the enemy back and puts him promptly in his place. Fasting & prayer has an effective and intensifying effect. Prayer is a weapon, and fasting helps us to remain focused.
UNITY COMPLETES US
How good and pleasant it is when God’s people live together in unity! For there the Lord commanded the blessing, even life forevermore. (Ps. 133:1, 3b).
Whenever we come together in unity, there is peace. Unity is the excellence of brotherhood. Where unity is the Lord commands a blessing. God is the source of love, and His love is a gift. Those who live in love and peace shall have the God of love and peace with them. Where love abides, God is in the midst.
Despite the current events that are happening in the world, we must continue to pray with the expectation that God will answer our prayers favorably. Whatever the need may be, we are called to pray about them. God’s ears are not far from hearing our prayers Pray for yourself, your family, friends, and neighbors. Pray for the sick. and for the homeless. Pray for the needs of children all over the world. Pray for our military and our government. Ask God for miracles to happen across the entire globe. Nothing is too big or too hard for our God. Always remain fervent in your prayers; they open doors that lead to supernatural miracles.
A new commandment I give unto you, that ye love one another, as I have loved you, that ye also love one another. By this shall all men know that ye are my disciples if ye have love one to another; (John 13:34).
