LORD OVERALL

Many of us were baffled by the announcement that an unknown virus had come upon us. Covid has come and conquered.

However, we’re finally starting to feel a sense of relief because an emergency vaccine has been approved and distributed worldwide. We’re hopeful that we can get back to living life as we once knew it.

In retrospect, we must be responsible and continue to wear a mask, wash our hands, and space ourselves 6ft apart despite immunization of the vaccine. Because of this, some of the safety guidelines are being lifted. Doors are opening, jobs are reopening, and people are ready to return to work and earn a living. We’re ready to get back to a sense of what we refer to as normalcy.

“Well, where is God in all of this? Has He allowed this to happen? And where is this pandemic leading us?”

No one knows the answers to these questions except God. Therefore, it’s imperative that we know that God is masterful at getting our attention. Whenever we choose worldly things over our relationship with God, we are too busy. We’re too busy if we’re not praying, praising, or seeking Him. The Creator will not be ignored by His creations.

Well, I’ve been paying close attention for a few years now. I noticed that strange things were taking place in the firmament. From what I could see, the clouds were different in a disconcerting way. They were dark and alive and sat very low all around the horizon. It was as if a spiritual war was forming, and the soldiers were moving into position in preparation for an attack. In my spirit, I felt that something we had no knowledge of was taking place right above the earth’s atmosphere. In astonishment, I began to seek God for answers. In response, He gave me three Scriptures to search out the matter.

“LORD OVERALL”

The heavens declare the glory of God and the firmament sheweth his handy work. Day unto day uttereth speech, and night unto night sheweth knowledge. There is no speech nor language where their voice is not heard. (*Psalms 19:1-3 KJV)

The first three words in Genesis Chapter One are “In the beginning.” But no one knows exactly when the beginning began; however, mankind can look back as an initial historic reckoning point. This was the beginning of the commencement of creation. The heavens declare the glory of God, and the firmament proclaims the work of His hands. God created the heavens and the earth. There isn’t anything that exists that wasn’t created by God.

What is the firmament? We call the firmament the sky. It consists of the sun, moon, clouds, and millions of stars. God calls the firmament heaven; (Gen. 1:8).

Eph. 3:10-11 teaches us that principalities and rulers reside there. An angelic host, cherubim and seraphim, and other God-created beings reside in the heavenly realm. But this is not a lesson on the firmament; this is a lesson about the hand of God.

The Bible emphasizes that creation began with God’s spoken words, “Let there be.” Let there be light; let there be a firmament; Let there be water, etc.; (Gen. 1:3,6,9).

Psalms 19:1-3 declares the glory of God and the work of His hand. These things speak to us night and day and reveal the knowledge of God. Unfortunately, this knowledge is too wonderful for us to know, meaning we don’t have God’s full working knowledge as Ruler, Creator, Designer, and Decorator.

Throughout the Book of Psalms, David proclaims the manifold wisdoms of God. The heavens speak to all nations without discrimination, and every eye should recognize that only a methodical God could create such marvelous things for us to enjoy.

The earth is the LORD’s and the fulness thereof, the world, and they that dwell therein; (*Psalms 24:1).

God is proclaiming His sovereignty. It’s established that nothing happens in heaven, on earth, nor under the earth without God’s permissive will.

Jesus is Lord over all. He rules with dominion and power. He is the final authority in all matters. When he opens a door, no man can shut it. When he closes a door, no one can open it (Isa. 22:22). God established the world and set it on course.

This is what the Lord says, “The heaven is my throne, and the earth is my footstool. Has not my hand made all these things, and so they came into being?” (Isa. 66:1a-2).

This is confirmation. It doesn’t get any clearer than that. Who else can claim that they made everything and acted upon it? Who can claim any of this? All power belongs to God.

Since reading the Bible from cover to cover, I’m convinced that all things belong to God. There’s no doubt about it, God is the Ruler overall!

*1 Chronicles 29:11 expresses it this way “Yours, O’ LORD, is the greatness, and the power and the glory, and the majesty and the splendor, for everything in heaven and earth is yours. Yours O’ LORD is the kingdom; you are exalted as head overall.”

Prayer: Father, thank you for this teaching, it’s an eye-opener knowing that there isn’t a second, a moment, or a day that goes by that you are not watching over your creation. There isn’t anything that takes place on earth that You aren’t aware of. Your ways are higher and so are your thoughts. We can never understand the paths that you take, but we can rest assured that we are in the safest place when we abide under the shadow of the Almighty. Our trust is in You, and only You, Father, for You are the Author and Finisher of our Faith. In the Jesus, Amen.
