“BONE OF MY BONE AND FLESH OF MY FLESH”
In the Garden of Eden, God ordained the first marriage; (Gen. 2:24). The man, Adam, pronounced, “This is now bone of my bone and flesh of my flesh; she, (Eve), shall be called ‘woman’ for out of the man she was taken. She was physically, mentally, and morally qualified to be his helpmate.”
After marriage, a man departs from his parents and bonds with his wife; (Gen. 2:24). God’s design is for a family unit to be formed when the man and wife unite in love and they become one flesh. Inseparable, their bond is intended to last forever.
Just like anything else in life that is worth having, marriage has its tough times. It can be like a ship sailing across the ocean. Sometimes the journey is smooth, but unexpected storms will arise. We all go through difficult times, sickness, job losses, divorces, and of course, money woes, it’s just the vicissitudes of life; no one escapes it.
It seems as though the devil attacks marriages the hardest. He wants to divide everything that God joins together. Lasting marriages are built on strong and firm foundations. God first, love, truth, trust, and commitment. Commitment is defined as a pledge or promise to remain faithful to our word.
As we navigate through the rough times we must consider that Jesus is our anchor in the midst of life’s storms. He’s the anchor that steadies our soul. Though the storms keep raging, you can trust Jesus to navigate through the troubled waters and land your ship safely on the other side of the sea. He will take you from trouble and bless you with joy and peace. Always remember that the Lord fights for marriages. The battle is not yours, it belongs to the Lord. He’s never lost a fight yet! Put your hands in the Hands of the Master of the Sea.
Prayer: Lord, thank You for families. You’ve designed families to love and build each other up. To live in unity for a house divided will not stand. Your word tells us how to live our lives wisely, and put aside the deeds and distractions of the world. May we live this life according to Your will. Your plan gives us hope and provides a good future. Give us each a heart of gratitude that we may acknowledge the blessings we have in each other. Let us become reflections of Your love and Your goodness towards us. Thank You, Lord, for my family. Bless each family with greater faith and love. In Jesus Name, I pray. Amen!
