“But whosoever drinketh of the water that I shall give him shall never thirst; but the water that I shall give him shall be in him a well of water springing up into everlasting life”; (John 4:14 KJV).
Many people believe that this verse is identifying Jesus as the living water, but Jesus is referring to the Holy Spirit. The Holy Spirit is the Spirit of God, who dwells in believers. The water in which Jesus spoke of symbolizes the Holy Spirit’s work in us, creating and sustaining us in the newness of life. This water is inside of you, if you possess the Spirit of God. This water has a bubbling effect which causes it to overflow. The overflow can be seen externally and others will know that the love of Christ is dwelling richly within that person.
It’s not assessed by works, but by relationship. Through your worship, by prayer, and by fasting. The life that the Holy Spirit produces in us, makes us new creations in Christ. It’s the ministry of the Holy Spirit that flows out of a heart redeemed by God, and through us love and light is given to the world.
When your heart is open to receive Jesus, the Holy Spirit comes in and dwells. Are you thirsty? Come take a drink. I promise you that you’ll never thirst again.
Prayer: Lord Jesus, my soul thirst for you. Fill me with your Holy Spirit, that I may drink of the fountain that never runs dry. Allow me to drink so that I will never thirst again. Come Holy Spirit, I invite you to come into my life.
