We have to check our flow to make sure that the old ways and habits are left behind in the past. We develop a new way of thinking and responding to what we hear. We are walking and standing in the truth of the Word, with our feet firmly planted; we are cleansed and renewing our thinking, and our actions should reflect this fact. The Priest standing firmly in the water is an example to us. The way was made and the Israelites passed on dry ground. We will not be able to move forward, if we are stuck in the past experiences. Leave the past behind!

God’s Ways Are Higher

God parted both the Red Sea and the Jordan River to teaching the Israelites of His mighty powers. He took them on a journey that they had never traveled before. He did this to teach them to depend on Him as their God. He also training them in warfare, so that they would be able to obtain the inheritance that He promised to give to Abraham and His descendants. As the children of God we also have an inheritance.

The Israelites crossed the Red Sea on dry ground with Moses holding up his staff. The second crossing happened under Joshua’s command, with the priest going before the people carrying the Ark of the Covenant. The people were more confident in crossing the second time, because the first experience taught them to trust that God would hold the water back and keep them from drowning as the crossed. This left a lasting impression in their minds, and this event was set as a memorial to them. This aided in build up their faith in God.

There are times in our lives that we will encounter difficult situations, and opposition will arise. During these times we are to believe by faith that whatever we’re facing God will see us through until the end. We have to recall the previous times that we had trouble, and rehearse those times that God rescued us. These are the times that we have to set as a memorial. It is our job is to believe by faith, that God will see us through every situation, to the very end, every time.

God Promised:

  • To be a present help in the time of trouble; (Ps. 46:1).
  • To never leave us, nor forsake us; (Deut. 31:6).
  • The battle is not yours, it belongs to the Lord; (2 Chron. 20:15).

FAITH –  Faith Is the key, and obedience is the proof of what we believe. Faith in action can be seen. We believe, and then we act on what we believe. If God commands us to move, we move. If He commands us to be still, we remain. We should respond in accordance to what we believe God has spoken to us.

We must learn to walk by faith with weighing the situation to see if it will benefit us. Faith is a confident conviction that God is who He says that He is, and that He will do everything that He says that He will do. Having a right relationship with God is most important to having faith in Him. Christ is our foundation.

“The just shall live by faith”

TRUST – Trusting in God is a vital part of our Christian walk. Not by sight, not by feelings, not by reasoning. Believing and trusting are action words. Change happen when we place our faith and trust in God.

DEPENDENCE – We must learn to depend on God for everything; His supplies are unlimited. He is able to meet our needs according to His riches in glory. Oftentimes, trusting in God requires us to patiently wait for Him to answer our in prayers.

A part of growing up means walking and falling. It’s a spiritual growth process. We grow in knowledge and understanding as we walk with the Lord. Spiritual growth as a process in which we learn who God is and we also learn His ways. The more time we spend with God establishing a loving Father and child relationship the more we are able to understanding His nature. We learn by the things that we experience. Experience is the best teacher, but wisdom gives you Revelational knowledge and discernment. We are then able to walk with God trust Him and expecting answers to our prayers. We learn to trust Him as we see how he works on our behalf, and we give thanks for all that He brings us through.

LISTENINGLearn to listen to God. The life of faith is about listening to God and trusting Him. Having faith requires a learning exercise. We have to be trained by faith to trust God. After each testing of our faith by obedience, and as God commands us, whether it’s a warning, or direction, or command, even if we don’t understand the reason behind His will, we must trust Him to carry out His will, having our best interest in mind. After the victory has taken place, make a note in your bible, write a date or comment for your information. This is how you build an altar.  This is what Abraham did after God told him to offer up his only son, Isaac as a sacrifice; (Gen. 22).

FOCUS  – Keeping our focus steadfast and fixed on Jesus, the Author and Finisher of our faithJesus is our  Rock. We are able to make better decisions when we remain focused. We lose our peace whenever we find our focus on our troubles. When are kept in perfect peace when our minds are stay on Jesus; (Isaiah 26:3 KJV).

Only Joshua and Caleb obtained the promises that God swore to give them for their faithfulness, and for keeping His commands. Caleb received Hebron as his inheritance; (Joshua 14:6-15), and Joshua received Timnath Serah; (Joshua 24:29-30).

Life Lessons

The wilderness journey reveals God’s role in every aspect of life, from the food we eat to the places we sleep, and how we interact with others. The Israelites wilderness journey reveals our total need of God’s daily provisions and His protection. His leads the way, provides water from a rock, gives strength to the weary, and He opens and closes doors that no man can reverse. There isn’t a battle that God hasn’t won against His enemies. These are life lessons that must be taught throughout all generations to come. All things are possible when we place our faith and trust in God. Now go forth and walk in victory because the battle has already been won!
