“His Perfect Love”

“Do you have a forgiving spirit? Are you able to forgive those who hurt you? Exhibiting the Love of Christ toward those who hurt you, and loving the unlovely exemplifies love at it’s finest.”

LOVE COMMANDMENTS: The Intent of the Heart

A new commandment I give unto you, That ye love one another; as I have loved you, that ye also love one another. By this shall all men know that ye are my disciples if ye have love one to another; (John 13:34-35 KJV).

Jesus is teaching us that relationships are the most valuable asset that we have, but at times, they can be the most difficult to maintain. Jesus knew that loving others would not be easy, therefore, He left us this new command. We must show love for one another, just as He loves us. Our obedience to this command identifies us as His disciples. This is the distinguishing mark of a follower of Christ. We show our love to Him by keeping His commandments.

Before we are able to love one another, we must first receive God’s love (Mark 12:30-31). If you don’t have the love of God richly dwell within you, how can you give of that in which you have never received?

“Love starts at home.” How can you say you love others, and not love the people within your own house? Our parents raised us, our siblings slept under the same roof, and relatives come by to visit; these people are closely connected to us, but they seem to be the most difficult for us to get along with at times. We should have the most love for them, but often this is not the case for some of us. We see a speck of dust in our brother’s eye, but fail to see that we have a pole in our eye; (Luke 6:42). We have the most difficult time exercising forgiveness when it comes to forgiving our own family members.

Let me be honest with you, God disciplines His children. Those whom God loves, He chastens; (Heb. 12:6). God sends trials on those whom He truly loves. He uses those everyday people in your life, to push those attitude buttons, in order to reveal to you, the condition of your heart. Your love walk is being tested! God knows what’s inside of every heart, but we’re not aware until we’re tested. The type of love God desires cannot be produced without the leading and strength of the Holy Spirit.

Taking care of others while neglecting to take care of ourselves is not wise. A lack of sleep, a poor diet, neglecting daily exercise, and improper grooming habits may cause us to become rundown physically, mentally, and emotionally. Having a healthy mind, soul, and spirit is vital. Put yourself on a makeover list, and treat yourself with the love that you deserve. When you feel good, you look good, and when you look good, others want what you have. We’re apt to serve God on an excellent level when we treat our temples (our bodies), with loving care.

I want to encourage you to study Scriptures pertaining to the love of God, and practice developing your love walk. This is vital to your spiritual growth and for the development of spiritual fruit. We know what love is because Jesus Christ laid down His life for us. He is our perfect example of agape love. Putting God first in your life and loving Him with your whole heart is the first step to loving others with the love of Christ. Love someone enough to share the Gospel of Jesus Christ. It’s the best gift that you can offer anyone!

Blessing to you friends!
