Spiritual Strength For The Battle

The Facts of the Matter

When obstacles seemingly plague your territory are you tempted to give up and run because of fear? Why is it so easy for us to give in instead of pressing on in faith? Well, that’s exactly what David did, his faith allowed him to stand face to face with Goliath without fearing. He knew that God would fight his battle and that he was not alone. You see, this wasn’t David’s battle, this battle belonged to the Lord. Anyone who came up against Israel’s army was actually fighting against the Lord.

Just as David stood strong before his enemy, in our daily lives and at various times, we too encounter giants. We face situations that cause us to fear. Whether its fear of lack, stressful situations, depression, loneliness, sickness or disease, loss of a love one, all of these giants threatens our position, our well being, our security, and our peace.

In order to overcome our fears we must place our faith in God believing that we are not alone during these times. God is with us and He fights for us. The enemy is intently looking at us for the first sign of fear. If he senses fear in us, he attacks. But God is always with us. He is mindful of us at all times, and He’s faithful to aid us at the time of need. There isn’t a giant mighty enough to overpower Almighty God. God is a strong tower, and a shelter in a raging storm. He’s a shield and a buckler, a hedge of protection all around us. There isn’t a giant strong enough that can overthrow almighty powerful God.

So, how exactly do we fight our spiritual enemies that rear their ugly heads against us?

  • Fight your fears with faith. (2 Tim. 1:7)
  • When in doubt, choose to believe for the best because God wants to give us His best. (John 11:40)
  • Depressed? Use the oil of joy for the spirit of heaviness. (Isa. 61:3)
  • Confusion of mind? Jesus is our peace. (Isa. 26:3; Eph. 2:14)
  • Loss of a love one? God is the Comforter. (2nd Cor. 1:3)
  • For sickness or disease, there is a balm in Gilead for the sin sick soul. (Ps. 147:3; Jere. 8:22)

The encounter that David had with Goliath is an example to us of the spiritual power that our God holds. As we come face to face with what appears to be great giants coming against our faith, we can stand strong in the power of God knowing that the battle belongs to the Lord and it’s already won.

The secret of our spiritual strength resides in our union with God. He is the source of our strength. When we place our faith and trust in the Lord, it’s a sure sign that we know that He is in complete control of everything that concerns us, and we know for sure that He is faithful to fight our battles. Choose faith over fear, place you trust in God, and the victory is yours!

Please remember, we fight our strongest battles on our knees!

Abundant blessings to you!

    1. Hello Moriah! Thank you for your comment. You are correct in saying that God will use anyone and He often does. In the story of Balaam’s Donkey, God opened the donkey’s mouth to speak to Balaam about beating him; (Numbers 22:28). This shows us that God is not limited to using whomever, whenever, for whatever reason that He chooses. Amen! Thank you Moriah
