Lust is one of the oldest and most powerful traps set for us by the enemy. Lust was present in the Garden of Eden when the first sin was committed. What is lust and where does it come from? In what ways does both the spirit of lust and the spirit of fear affect the spiritual life of a Christian? In this article, I am sharing with you the shocking truths and some intimate details pertaining to the spirit of lust. I am also sharing with you a couple of personal testimonies relating to the subject of lust after it has reached conception, and just how detrimental it is after it takes root and spills over into our everyday lives.
Webster’s Dictionary defines lust as an intense or unrestrained sexual craving; an overwhelming desire or craving. I define lust as a spirit sent straight from the pit of hell to wreak havoc into any unsuspecting person’s life. Lustful desires can be either good or bad, depending upon the object of desire and the motive behind it. Sinful lust is usually associated with a passionate desire for something God has forbidden. According to James 1:14-15, when a man is tempted, he is tempted by his own evil desire. After a wrong desire is conceived, it gives birth to sin, and sin when it is full-grown, can result in death. Therefore, when an evil desire introduces itself, we have a choice either to entertain it or reject it.
2 Tim. 2:22 warns us to “Flee youthful lust”, to flee means to take off immediately running. Leave it; make no provisions for the flesh. Being tempted by evil is not a sin; it’s when we yield to temptation that we succumb to sin.
It is only when our hearts are dedicated to the glory of God that we can overcome intrusive desires and conquer lust. After we surrender our lives to the Lord, we must take every thought captive and bring the thought to the obedience of the Word of God (2 Cor. 10:5). We must allow the Holy Spirit to keep our thoughts washed with the word of God. Washing occurs as we read and meditate on God’s Word.
Lust starts with of the eyes, (1 John 2:16). Lust of the eyes is the desire to possess things that are visually appealing to us. satan uses the lust of the eyes as an avenue of temptation. The coveting of money or other physical things is not from God, but from the world. Materialism beckons with its promise of happiness and fulfillment, but the world ways are corrupt and evil, and greed can never be satisfied.
My personal testimony: One of the gifts that I possess is the spirit of discernment. God has gifted me with I the ability to see into the spirit realm and the natural realm. I claim nothing of myself, for these are the gifts of the Holy Spirit, given to me by God. My gift have matured since my early days, but I am still learning as my walk deepens by the leading of the Holy Spirit. What I am sharing, God has given me permission to share. Therefore, this message will instruct and accomplish exactly what God has intended.
In The Beginning
Dream #1 – In a dream, I saw myself standing in front of the apartment where my family lived. This is the place where I grew up as a child, but in the dream, I was not a child. I was outside standing near the front entrance of the door, when I saw a bear waddle his way inside the apartment.
I knew that this dream was spiritual and that the bear was symbolic in some way, but the revelation had not been given to me yet. In the Old Testaments, God often used symbolic things as a way to represent something, or to convey a message. For example He uses symbolic objects, such as candlesticks, lampstands, and oil to represent the anointing, vines and branches represent the engrafting of believers and unbelievers, he even used a donkey to speak a warning to a pagan prophet (Num. 22:28).
Dream #2 – This dream took place in the back yard of the home that I previously owned. In the dream I saw a strange man suddenly appear, it was as if he stepped out of a portal. This man was forceful, he had a sense of boldness, and most of all he had intent with a purpose. I believed that both dreams were spiritually connection.
With these things established, let’s move forward…. I recently encountered a spirit in the house that I moved to. I was asleep, but I was awakened by a loud noise. I didn’t see anyone, but I knew that a spirit had entered my bedroom. (Usually I can tell when a spirit enters the room because the effect causes my ears to feel as though I am suddenly under water.) A few minutes later I felt something touch me, I knew that it was the spirit of lust. This spirit seeks to enter and take control a human body. It seeks gratification through sinful sex acts. It waits until all the lights are off and the house is dark and the unsuspecting person is asleep. The unsuspecting person it chose was me, but I was able to discern the spirit. This is not the first time that I’ve encountered this spirit, it tries to come back to challenge me. One time I felt this spirit try to get into my bed with me. I jump out of bed and immediately went into spiritual warfare against it.
“Oh, No Devil You Got the Wrong Girl!”
The Spirit of Fear
Interpretation of dream #1 – I believe that the bear that I saw represents the spirit of fear. During my childhood I remember being afraid of ghost, skeletons, the dark and scary movies. The bear entering my childhood residence represented fear. The dream was a warning that the spirit of fear is trying to resurface in my life.
Amen. On time and powerful message.. May God continue to keep and bless you my sister/friend. Love you Jeanie
