Scripture: “Hear, O Israel: The LORD our God is one LORD” (Deut. 6:4 KJV).

The term “Godhead” means divinity. While some people interchange Godhead with the word “Trinity,” the word trinity is not found in the Scriptures. The Bible teaches that there is one God and He is triune in nature. The Bible also affirms 3 distinct Persons as being God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit. They each possess the complete attributes of deity and are truly divine, yet eternally distinct from one another. They communicate with each other (Gen. 1:26; John 17:1-26; Heb. 1:8-9). They are one in mind, purpose, and in substance, yet they each have a different task.

• God the Father initiates and is the Ultimate Source of:
  The cause of the Universe.
  Divine revelation.
  Salvation
  Jesus’ human works.

For the invisible things of him from the creation of the world are clearly seen, being understood by the things that are made, even his eternal power and Godhead (Rom. 1:20a KJV).

• God the Son is the Agent through whom the Father does the following works:
  Creation
  Maintenance of the Universe
  Divine revelation
  Salvation (Acts 4:12)

For in him dwelleth all the fulness of the Godhead bodily (Col. 2:9 KJV).

• God the Holy Spirit is the means by whom the Father does the following works:
  Creation
  Maintenance of the Universe
  Divine revelation
  Salvation
• Jesus’ spiritual works (Matt. 3:16).

And the Spirit of God moved upon the face of the waters (Gen. 1:2 KJV).

All three were involved in creation, incarnation, identifying the Messiah, redemption, salvation, sending the Holy Spirit, indwelling, baptizing and blessing believers, baptism, entering God’s presence. So, if the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit all bear the names of God, possess the attributes of God, and perform all the works of God, then they must be acknowledged as One God exist in three Persons.

Scripture links God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit so closely in many divine activities that it would be foolish to deny any one of them is God. The most difficult thing about the Christian concept of the Trinity is that there is no way to perfectly and completely understand it. Rather than attempting to fully define the Trinity with our finite minds, our focus should be on the facts of God’s greatness and His infinitely higher nature. His thoughts and ways are much higher than mans. He is Omnipotent, Omniscient, Omnipresent, and Immutable God. He is always and forever God.
