Scripture: Have not I commanded thee? Be strong and of a good courage; be not afraid, neither be thou dismayed: for the LORD thy God is with thee whithersoever thou goest. (Joshua 1:9 KJV)
Let us consider the one who has given these orders and instructions to us. Almighty God, the Great I Am, the Creator of both heaven and earth. God is able to be everywhere at all times. He is the only wise God. The all-sufficent One. He is self-sustained and self-maintained. He is a Mighty Warrior whom no foe can withstand. Forever faithful and eternal God!
After the death of Moses, Joshua was chosen as his successor. Moses was a great leader over the Hebrew people. He set a fine example for Joshua to follow.
Joshua was a man of courage and valor. He was a mighty general in the army of God. A general is to show strength of mind, greatness in character, valor and courage. Joshua was a man of action and he personified bravery.
The way to obtain victory over your enemies is to be strong in the power of the Word of God. By correctly applying the Word and taking command, you are able to stop the enemy right in his tracks. You are able to stop the enemy before he steals, kill or destroys your family. By applying God’s Word we can stop the wiles of the devil before the onset of the attack.
For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms.
(Eph. 6:12 NIV).
The Bible is a book of instructions designed to lead, guide, and protect us as we journey throughout life. We are instructed to keep the book of the law ever before us. Day and night we are to meditate on the Word. We are to be faithful to do everything as commanded. Only then will we prosper and succeed (Joshua 1:8). We have no need to fear because God has given us many precious promises.
- He promised to never leave us, or forsake us (Deut. 31:6).
- To be with us always, even to the end (Matt. 28:20).
- No weapon formed against us shall prosper (Isa.54:17).
- He will fight for us, we need to trust and believe (Ex. 14:14).
Keeping God first is a sure way to have victory over the enemy. No Man’s dignity and dominion sets him above the law of God. No man was able to stand before Joshua all the days of his life because God was with him (Joshua 1:6-7a). In the end only Joshua and Caleb received their allotted inheritance. Total commitment and obedience afforded them the victory.
- Have courage to wait on the Lord.
- Don’t be weak, but rernain strong, your faith will be rewarded.
- Don’t let fear overtake you.
- Face your fears with courage.
Have I, the Lord not commanded thee?
Blessings to you!
Amen
