God Does Answer Prayers

Prayers Are AnsweredScripture: Let us then approach God’s throne of grace with confidence, so that we may receive mercy and find grace to help us in our time of need (Heb. 4:16 NIV).

There is plenty of evidence that God answers prayers. Scripture clearly teaches that prayers are answered. James 5:16b says that “the effectual fervent prayer of a righteous man avails much.” Praying is a powerful and an effective tool to access God.

When we pray in the name of Jesus we are praying with His God given authority; we’re asking God to act upon our prayers. Praying in the name of Jesus means that we come to God in Jesus’ name representing all of who He is and none of ourselves.

The purpose behind our prayers does matter. Our prayers should align with God’s will. We should not pray prayers that are in accordance to our will, but in accordance to the perfect will of God. Our prayers should agree with God’s will for our lives.

To pray in Jesus’ name means the same thing as praying according to the will of God. Praying about the things that are in agreement with God’s will is the essence of praying in Jesus’ name. We do not pray according to our will, but asking God that His will be done in our lives. It is the purpose behind the prayer that matters.

In John 14:13-14, Jesus taught us that whatever we ask for in His name He will do. Praying in the name of Jesus is not a magic formula, nor is it just something we tack on at the end of a prayer. When we pray in the name of Jesus we give honor and glorify His name. His name is the only name acceptable to God that allows us to enter in His presence. We have the assurance that we can enter boldly into His presence in Jesus’ name and God will listen to our prayers.

“This is the confidence we have in approaching God, that if we ask anything according to his will, he hears us. And if we know that he hears us, whatever we ask, we know that we have what we asked of him” (1 John 5:14-15 NIV).

Having faith in God is a requirement for answered prayers. He who comes to God must believe that He exists and that He is the rewarder of them that diligently seek Him. Prayers have changed the lives of every believer and we are the proof that God does answer our prayers. So, boldly approach the throne of grace in your time of need, and let your request be known unto God. He is faithful to answer your prayers and this is a promise!

Bountiful blessings to you!

  1. God certainly does answer prayers. When I was younger, I struggled with wondering why God would let someone hurt me or my family, but as I’ve gotten older, I realize that people have their own minds and things going on, not everyone walks in the light of God and lives in a loving way, I have learned to pray for those that hurt others, because they are hurting and lost out there in the wilderness. God hears all and sees all and you have to be ready for that spiritual walk with him in order to feel his presence and love.

    1. Hi Nicky. In the beginning of my Christian walk I entertained the same thoughts, but as I matured I understood the meaning of polar opposites in life. Where there is good there is evil, where there is dark there is light, where there is love there is hate, etc… I take the words of Jesus very seriously when He told us to love one another. Love was the most powerful force on the planet. I have made it my mission to try to walk everyday in love by showing love. It’s best to walk away when someone hurts with an attitude of forgiveness and like you said pray for them. I do believe that there is a lesson to learn in every situation in life. Whether good or bad.
Thank you Nicky! I appreciate your loving kind heart. God bless you.
