Scripture: Then said Jesus unto him, “Except ye see signs and wonders, ye will not believe” ;(John 4:48 KJV).
Jesus’ ministry was accompanied by various miracles, signs, and wonders. The purpose of Jesus’ miracles was to confirm God’s hand on His Messenger ;(John10:37-38). In fact, Jesus was accredited by God to us by miracles, signs, and wonders ;(Acts 2:22).
The Pharisees asked Jesus to show them a sign. His response was, “An evil and adulterous generation seek for a sign, but no sign will be given except the sign of the prophet Jonah (Matt. 12:39-41). The purpose of signs was so that people would acknowledge God’s message and respond accordingly. In John 4:48, Jesus told the nobleman, “Unless you see signs and wonders you will not believe.” The signs were also given in order to help those who struggled to believe the message of salvation in Christ.
Today people still seek miracles, signs, and wonders, and they go to great extremes to have the experience. Some seek proof because they want confirmation of the truth of God.
The Bible tells us that “Blessed are those who have not seen and yet believe” ;(John 20:29). Unbelievers and thrill-seekers look to find something sensational, but they have no desire to really know the truth of Christ. In spite of the truth, some people refuse to believe because of their wickedness. Others seek signs and wonders with the hope of getting something for themselves ;(John 6:26).
Biblical signs and gifts refer to miracles such as visions, healings, seeing the dead raised to life, speaking in tongues, and prophesying. The primary purposes of these miraculous gifts are to prove that the gospel is indeed true. They are also a means to a greater end, the salvation of souls through the preaching of the Gospel.
God still performs miracles, signs, and wonders to this day. He miraculously heals people every day. The miraculous gifts of the Holy Spirit in 1 Corinthians Chapters 12 through 14 are still active today. He freely dispenses gifts according to His will. In 1 Cor. 14:22, Paul states that tongues are a sign not for believers, but for unbelievers. God uses miraculous signs like speaking in tongues to convince unbelievers that the message of Christ is true. But most important to declare the message of eternal salvation in the name of Jesus Christ ;(Romans 10:9).
I would like to share the latest miracle that my family experienced. “About this time last year, my daughter went to purchase contact lens at a local optometrist office. After taking the vision exam she had a consultation with the doctor with the results. The doctor informed her of some complications that the exam revealed. She explained that there was some thinning along a part of her eye which could cause her retina to tear. She also mentioned possible signs of glaucoma which could eventually lead to the loss of her vision. The doctor recommended that my daughter see a specialist. Needless to say, this new information put my daughter in a state of utter frustration. She was in a state of panic from fear of her sight worsening to blindness as she’s worn glasses since she was a small child. When we got home she went to her bedroom, closed the door, got on her bed and she cried. I went to her and we had a mother to daughter heart to heart talk about the God whom we serve. We talked about who God is, the power that He possesses, and who we are in relationship to Him. We ended our conversation with whose report we believed. After this we cast down all doubt and fear, we canceled out the doctors’ report and we prayed in faith.”
On 5/2/2014, approximately one year from last year’s report, my daughter went to another optometrist. She took another eye exam and was told that her eyes are healthy. This doctor said that she could see where something had taken place in some parts of her eyes. There was pigment that formed in the places that were thin to heal them. Nobody but GOD could perform a miracle such as this! Healing has taken place in my daughter’s eyes!
Because of our faith, God heard our prayers and He went to work on our behalf. Jesus said “If two of you on earth agree about anything you ask for, it will be done for you by my Father in heaven (John 18:19). He also said, “Did I not tell you that if you believed, you would see the glory of God?” ;(John 11:40).
I end here with rejoicing as I give glory and all praises to God. “GOD YOU ARE AWESOME, AMAZING, FAITHFUL, AND POWERFUL! THANK YOU!!”
Much Love and many blessings to you!
Wonderful message and powerful testimony! Miracles happen daily and I believe!

Hi El ! I am a bit late of responding and I do apologize. Thank you for your wonderful comment. It really blesses me to know that there is someone who knows that God still performs miracles today. Therefore, we should expect to see the hand of God in our lives. We should never doubt God because He is able to do above and beyond all that we could even think or dream. Glory to God in the highest!
