Soul Mates and Soul Ties

Soul Mates and Soul TiesScripture: “For this reason a man will leave his father and mother and be united to his wife, and the two will become one flesh”; (Eph. 5:31)

Soul Mates: The idea of a soul mate is that a person fits perfectly with another particular person who is specifically designed for them. This concept is not biblical. It is true that God will take two people who are joined together by marriage and by His grace and in His timing, the two will become one flesh. It is possible to marry the wrong person, this is why it is most important to seek God’s wisdom and knowledge before committing to an individual based on thoughts and feelings alone. It is wise to seek God first, His will and His guidance; trusting Him to lead and guide us into all truths. We are not to lean on our own understanding. Only God knows the past, present and the future. He also knows every heart.

When you marry someone, that person is your soul mate. A man will leave his father and mother and will be united to his wife, and the two will become one flesh. It is possible to feel that you have married the wrong person or perhaps that you married someone who God did not desire for you to marry, but in this instance God is still in control. He is able to change a person by changing their heart and mind. God is able to take an unhappy individual or two unhappy people and mold them into a happily married couple well suited for one another. A husband and wife are soul mates; the two are becoming or have become one flesh.

Soul Ties: A soul tie is not referenced in the Bible. The idea of a “soul tie” is a man-made speculation as an attempt to define certain human behaviors. It is believed that connections from one person’s soul to another person’s soul could possibly connect their lives forever, or this could simply be lust. The connection can either be for good or bad, not always good as the original idea may have you to believe. Not all connections are godly connections. We are to seek God’s wisdom and His guidance into all truths.

The Bible warns us about forming ungodly relationships. Psalms One makes references to fellowshiping with the ungodly. The Bible also warns us about fornication. 1 Cor. 6:16 tells us that two bodies will become one flesh when bodies are joined. The Bible says nothing about souls being joined. The union of soul ties is not biblical in human theory, although some may differ. The goal of each person who has put their faith in Jesus Christ is to become more and more like Him. Leaving the old way of life behind when sin was in control and conforming to the standards given to us in the Bible.

Having a relationship with God is essential in marriage as well as in forming other relationships. Being in close fellowship with God, and having love and respect for one another makes for a healthy relationship and a wholesome union. It leaves no room for the enemies’ lies and deception with the intent to destroy what God has joined together. The couple that prays together stays together.

Bountiful Blessings to you! God Bless.

  2. Good evening Mary. Thank you for your comment, I totally agree. There is so much perversion in the world today, we must be careful of what we attach ourselves to. I’m reminded of the very last verse in the Book of Judges, it reads, “In those days there was no king in Israel; every man did that which was right in his own eyes (22:25 KJV). Just because everyone else is doing it does not make it right. Love you too, Mary. Enjoy your weekend! God bless.
