The Value In Waiting For God

“Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your request to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your heart and your mind in Christ Jesus.” (Phil. 4:6-7 NIV)

There is great value in waiting for God. When we wait on God He gives us clear directions. He guides us to make wise decisions and the best choices. We should wait for God’s timing and His direction in order to know what to do about a situation and when to do what is required in order to achieve the desired results. God is all knowing, all wise, and all encompassing. He is the Sovereign Ruler over all. He sees the beginning and the end of a matter. God operates in wisdom. He knows every detail about every circumstance. Earthly wisdom is limited, but God has manifold wisdoms. There is no one greater. He knows what is best of us.

Waiting on God requires patience. When everything is going our way, patience is easy to demonstrate. However, the true test of our patience shows when we are not getting what we want, when we want it. Patience is a fruit of the Spirit (Gal. 5:22-23). It reveals our faith in God’s timing, His Omnipotence, and His love. Patience is persevering towards a goal, and enduring trials while we expectantly wait for a promise to be fulfilled. Patience is not developed over night. Our patience is developed and strengthened by resting in God’s perfect will and timing.

Sometimes God puts us in difficult situations. He may allow a trial to test our character. When we worry we are not trusting in God. Matt. 6:33, tells us to cast our cares on the Lord because He cares for us. We are to wait with confidence, believing that God is working on our behalf for our good. We are to wait quietly and patiently. No amount of complaining will cause God to work according to our plan. He does not work according to our time, nor does He have any restrictions. God does not operate according to our will. His ways and thoughts are not like ours. Do not try to manipulate your situation. Manipulation causes delays. God acts on the behalf of those who wait for Him. Waiting is profitable. Waiting on God assures you of His best.

Whatever the circumstances may be God already has a plan in place. Jeremiah 29:11 tells us that God knows the plans that He has for us. His plans are for us to prosper and succeed. He has a plan and a purpose for your life. Your situation my cause you to think that you’re alone. That God isn’t working on your behalf, but in truth God is actively working in your life. Remain faithful and trust God to intervene in your situation. Let go of your plan and patiently wait for Him to act. God longs to be good to you, trust and obey Him. He will show up right on time with whatever you need. He is faithful to supply. Trust and believe that all things work for the good of them that love the Lord. God is willing to give us His best; wait with the right spirit. You will never go wrong waiting on the Lord. God is our source, our joy and our peace. Delight yourself in the Lord and He will give you the desires of your heart.

Blessings of my love from me to you!

  1. Hello Mary,
You brought me to tears, the words you wrote are the words I needed to read.
    I’m a jeramiah!
Not discussing issues, not wanting to give the enemy any weapons. I patiently wait, my tears flow not because of unbelief but because of belief!!!
I know that Jesus loves me, I know he will not let me be tempted above that which I can stand. I know apart from him I can do nothing, and NO weapon formed against me will prosper.
Joseph waited in a place he didn’t deserve, although God had an unseen plan. I used this as my example when I feel wronged, when i feel alone and when I don’t understand why I’m where I am today.
Thank you for being an obedient servant.
Thank you for inspiring me, thank you for encouraging me, I know your heaven sent; for this very moment.
    Much love and many prayers
    Your sister in Christ Jesus

    1. Good morning Mary. I am grateful and thankful to God for His amazing grace and His loving kindness. He is faithful to remind us to remain faithful and wait on Him whenever we feel challenged in the area of our patience. I recently stepping out because I thought it would aid myself in obtaining a few items that I felt that I wanted. I totally disregarded what the Holy Spirit showed me before hand. In the spirit I was shown the enemy coming after me. I don’t fear the enemy because I know that the greater one is He in me. So I preceeded to go after what I wanted. Needless to say I stepped out, was tricked and I opened the door for harrassement. God woke me up an hour earlier that usual this morning, 1am exactly! I am preaching to myself as well as others who need a refresher, (obviously as I did). Now I have to resume my position of resting in God. He speaks to all of us right when we need it most. We shall reap if we faint not! (P.S. after I stepped out, and got dooped, I received the blessing I wanted without any work on my part…. ) Lesson learned, Not Lol! Love you Mary, stay encouraged! Thanks for sharing. I love testimonies!
