THE AUTHOR AND FINISHER OF OUR FAITH
Scripture: “Looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of our faith.” (Heb. 12:2a KJV)
As the author and finisher of our faith, Jesus is the perfecter, creator, the originator of all plans. The Greek meaning of author is “captain, chief leader, or prince.” Christ is the originator of our faith, meaning that faith begins with Him.
As Captain, He steers, presides, and controls our faith. The NIV translation says, “Let us fix our eyes on Jesus, the author and perfecter of our faith. Perfecter literally means “finisher” and speaks of the conclusion of a matter. Faith comes by hearing the Word of God. Therefore, biblical teaching, reading, or hearing a sermon about our Lord or any true gospel of Jesus Christ being communicated is potential for faith.
Keeping the faith requires remembering what brought us to faith in the first place. We must consistently and intentionally be reminded of God’s grace. Keeping the faith is about community. Keeping the faith requires a love of truth and a commitment to the Word of God. The Christian life is not lived exclusively between God and the individual. Fellow believers should encourage one another to keep their faith. We should exhort one other when we are going astray.
From beginning to end, Jesus is the source of our faith. He watches over it and sustains it as we walk daily with Him. He is the finisher of our spiritual journey. He that began a good work in us is able to bring it to completion. Keeping the faith involves growth in Christ. God is always at work in our lives. Our faith should be forever growing. We grow from faith to faith, from one degree of faith to another. Faith is pressing forward and gaining the victory over unbelief. For we walk by faith and not by sight.

Jesus…. Just that name. He holds us completely safe in his hands and will not let a foot slip. The author of our faith to faith. I no longer live life day to day but rather, faith to faith. Jesus!!! Love u sis and press on 😊

Good afternoon Angel! How are you? It’s always good to read a comment from you! I know exactly what you mean. God is so faithful, even when we are not faithful to Him, He is always faithful to us.To live without God is not living at all. I plan to keep lifting up the name of Jesus until the day that I die, and when I get to heaven is when the real praise party will begin for me. When I think about that great day my soul just shout “Hallelujah!”

God is. He is the beginning and the end, the alpha and omega, he is the author and finisher of my faith.
